Arthur Humberstone Exhibition

Working with the sons of legendary british animator Arthur Humberstone, we brought his beautiful work to life using exhibition.

Inspired by the regular use of pinboards within animation studios, notably Arthur’s, I installed the text using cork and pins. Printed on tan transparent paper, it mimics the
look of animator paper.

In my own words

A project highlighting the issue
of ‘accentism’– accent & dialect discrimination through an online interactive map.

It showcases personal experiences where people have been made to feel ashamed, dismissed or stereotyped because of how they speak.

Doors Open

A brand identity for a community
owned venue
, based in Wakefield.

Providing spaces for musicians,
artists and comedians to perform,
for the benefit of culture, not profit.

Inspired by my keen interest in music and politics, and frustrations with the city I live within.

Care Free Market

A public exhibition proposal that seeks to raise awareness of the role of carers, empower the unseen
to recognise their invaluable role,
 and encourage accessing support
to improve quality of care.

Failure to identify as an unpaid carer is a common barrier to accessing vital support. With 51% of carers taking over a year to recognize
their caring role
, and 36% taking over 3 years.

To fight this I produced a public exhibition to raise awareness and
de-stigmatize care-giving
in local Sheffield communities.

Glimpsed Only In Certain Light

A publication using the written art, ‘Glimpsed, Only in a Certain Light’
by Emma Cocker.

Inspired by the texts messaging,
I prioritised patience and interaction by requiring an active role from readers, to interpret the text.

‘The potential witness might then begin
by practicing the art of looking, by honing
the forgotten huntsman’s skills of watching and waiting, of biding their time’

Focusing on patience, I designed the publication to require interaction and time to read the text, using folds and moving elements to force the reader to take an active role.
